Delft I - Ice rink

The winters are in the Netherlands not what they used to be. As our fathers and grandparents remember harsh winters of snow and ice, the winters in the 21st centenary due to global climate warming feel more like autumn than winter. But as the Austrians do in skiing area's covering the hills with fake snow, we in Delft have a small icerink from artificial ice in the inner city. It's only there in december, january so people can skate on it. I have been skating there a few times, but it's really, really, really busy...

  1. This brought back a pleasant memory for me....way back when I was in high school, we would go ice skating every Friday nite. We would start of with races, switch skates and skate to the music....such a fun time. hugs abby

  2. Since it's never cold enough for long enough for our lakes to ice over enough to be safe, we have always had ice skating rinks in our area. For some reason, I was always better at roller skating than ice skating. Thanks for sharing, Han.

    Hugs and blessings...Cat

    1. Really roller skating? With all the padding on knees and elbows, Cat? Never a fan of rollerskating myself, Dutch streets are very bad for gliding... Smile.

  3. I love ice skating, growing up we always skated on a pond that was a branch of the Raritan River. Have lots of wonderful memories of playing whip, roasting potatoes to stay warm and lots of laughter.
Ray and I have done it occasionally since then but it's not nearly as much fun.

    1. Nah, when you get older Leigh, nothing beats your childhood memories. OK, maybe we made them just a tiny bit better than they were.

But, hey they are our memories, and we can do whatever we like with them, don't we?
