The Blue Carbuncle - a radio play

Five years before I was even born Sir John Gielgud (left) as Sherlock Holmes and Sir Ralph Richardson (right) as Dr. Watson in a recording of The Blue Carbuncle. If you didn't have the time to read all of the story the last three days, please spend 30 minutes on this recording. It's the time where plays on radio were very popular and had a wide audience. We should be grateful there is so much left from those days and the Internet has made it so accessible to everyone these days.

Back to the radio days, back to 14 december 1954:

  1. I remember my parents, grandparents and great grandparents talking about gathering around the radio to listen to "stories". Thanks for sharing this Han. ;)

  2. Most people will not remember the great sir John Gielgud, one of the best Shakespeare performers ever. At best they will remember him in that terrible movie called "Galigula", full of porn and horror and Sir John Gielgud, lost in a pool of money...

How nice of you to listen,
    Han
