Falling off the Cliff

A disabled community is just like any other rather closed community: it has it's own shared knowledge, the expressions, the same experiences all went though. The expression "Falling off a Cliff" is a common expression for young people who are helped by the government in their education. When they are young there are a lot of doors that will be open (if you know to ring at the right doors that is). But the disabled community will help each other to point at the right doors.

And suddenly when the school days are over the system stops. And all the care professionals that you could turn to, will suddenly say: hey, he or she is an adult now, we are for kids, not for adults. And so the next video is a great and rather inspiring example of how the disabled, mental or physical, can add value to a company.

The inspiration is not in the fathers tears, he probably indeed just donated the money. The inspiration is in the mother that is not in the video and in the awesome brother.

Thank you.

    1. In any country, I think Appy. In any country. But we cherish every example how things could be done differently, and hope it will inspire other people as well.

    1. Thank you Minelle, I didn't mean to make you cry... It's just that it's hard enough being disabled, mentally or physically, and this adds just to the limitations.

Still many lead happy lives and got great folks around them to take care of them.
So sweet of you to comment,

  3. Having worked in Social Services, I too understand the reality of falling off the cliff. Wonderful what this man has done, wish there were many more like him.

    1. To change your weakness into your strength. That's what the man did to his son and his colleagues. And that really is a breathtaking concept...

Thank you so much for your comment,

  4. Thank you for sharing this absolutely wonderful and very touching video Han.

We have a business here in town that only hires those who are mentally and/or physically disabled to make brooms and put together products for sale. The company actually has vans that go pick up any of the employees who don't have transportation. It is so wonderful to see the sense of self that they have when they earn their paychecks.

    Hugs and blessings...Cat

    1. It's just like us, we get pride from making our own living and make a contribution to society, and basically there is no difference.
The fact that they made their disability a strength, that is what I liked so much.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment,
      Han
